17 Gold Team Tournament Recaps
Irish Rumble - March 9 & 10, 2024 - Spooky Nook Sports Complex, Manheim, PA
Overall Results: The team went 0-4 for the weekend.
Team Highlights:
It was a rough weekend. We had a player under the weather and were missing both Ana Serano, middle hitter, and Madison Parson, libero, on day one; however, Madison did show up on day two. The team came out fighting on day one, battling to losses of 26-24, 25-21, and 25-19 before winning a set 25-19. Unfortunately, the tide didn’t turn in our favor; and we weren’t able to win another set the rest of the weekend.

Player Recognition:
- Kaylie Stull stepped up for the team playing libero on day one. She adjusted quickly to the new line-up and
worked hard on defense and dominating serve receive. - Emily Erskine - Props also go to Emily who played more than usual on defense and in the serve receive role throughout day one. It takes mental toughness to step into a position without much time to prepare, and I saw that from both Kaylie and Emily.
Tournament Team MVP:
- Tournament MVP goes to Faith Gillman. Faith usually plays opposite hitter front. This weekend she stepped up to play middle hitter. Faith was able to get several blocks, hit consistently, and did an awesome job of placing the ball and keeping it in play when the set was off. She even had a few impressive digs while playing in the back row. She came through for the team when we were down a middle hitter!
Prez Day Showdown - February 17 & 18, 2024 - York Expo Center, York, PA
Overall Results: Overall the girls took tenth place out of 16 teams and took second place in the silver bracket. Their record for
the weekend was 3-3. Team Highlights: The girls started the weekend strong with a solid win in the first match. They served well and worked as a team. We struggled with passing and hitting errors in the next two matches dropping both in two sets. Once again, the girls bounced back stronger on the second day. While service errors continued to be a problem, the girls showed some true grit and determination, picking up balls we would have let drop earlier in the season. They made it to the finals of the silver bracket and were down one set. After falling behind in the second set, they rallied back for an exciting 25-20 win. Player Recognition:

MLK Kickoff Challenge - January 13-15, 2024 - York Expo Center, York, PA
Overall Results: Overall, the girls took ninth place out of 16 teams and took first place in the Silver Bracket. Their record for the weekend was 6-3 (winning 13 sets and losing only 7). Went 3-0 on Saturday, 1-2 on Sunday, and 1-1 on Monday in the Silver Bracket.
Team Highlights:
The girls got the first day jitters out in their first match of the weekend, losing in three sets. The final set was a close one, losing by only two (13-15). They went on to win the rest of their matches that day and took second place in the pool. The second day of the tournament the girls lost a little momentum. They won one match and lost two landing them in third place and the Silver Bracket.
The final day of the tournament, the girls found their groove (literally, team song!) and used the energy to go undefeated for the day. The second match of the day, they faced the team they had lost to on the first day of the tournament and beat them in two sets. Looking at the tournament results, the girls had beaten the team that took the second-place trophy in the Gold Bracket on the first day of the tournament.
Everyone on the court contributed to the success of the team this weekend. There were great moments from each player. It’s exciting to see the potential the team has as we look to the future!
