14 Gold Team Tournament Recaps
Synergy Super Club Tournament - February 11, 2024 - Max Power Sports, LLC, King of Prussia, PA
Overall Results:
Team finished first in pool play after going 2-1 in set play and 5-3 in set play. Then headed into the quarter finals, the team had a mental lapse and missed more serves in one set than they did the entire day combined. The unforced errors created an insurmountable challenge and the girls were knocked out in the quarterfinal for their first time this season. Major Team Highlights: The ladies are starting to put together great plays and they're starting to believe in each other, trust each other, and play at a high level. The combination of Grace Myers and Ayla Whiteley is becoming a heavy hitting power. Their timing is really getting good and Ayla is destroying balls off of Grace’s sets. Up until the quarterfinal match, the girls' serving was spot on and were giving teams a really hard time, stacking up 32 aces in three matches! NVA Winter Blast Tournament - January 21, 2024 - Spooky Nook Sports Complex, Manheim, PA
Overall Results:
The girls finished 4-3 in pool play and then won a single set in the quarterfinal to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, the young ladies struggled to find their rhythm and team flow and dropped the single set semi-final. On the day, the team went 5-4 in set play and finished top four out of twelve teams. The highlight of the day was the quarterfinal game when the girls came back from a 1-12 deficit to win 26-24 and advance! Their never-quit attitude was very evident and showed their ability to play and work hard to get what they wanted. Major Team Highlights: The team served their way into the quarterfinals on the strong, aggressive serving that saw them maintaining pressure on their opponents at an 80% service rate and were focused on serving the edges of the court more consistently! When they served the ball out, it typically wasn’t out by much. The team has a high level of energy and a great bond. They know how to keep each other in the game and crank up the pressure on the opponents when it matters most. Their “next girl up” attitude was imperative during this tournament, as we were missing a starting setter; but players jumped in to cover. Even when someone was struggling, the next player subbed in and did a great job making sure it wasn’t a liability. Major Team Highlights: The girls started the day 0-2 with a lot of nerves and tired legs.
